The Access and Inclusion program seeks to increase the diversity of engineering students by recruiting, retaining and developing successful students from underrepresented populations. Student diversity is an important aspect of the Dwight Look College of Engineering’s 25 by 25 initiative to increase enrollment to 25,000 students by 2025. Dr. Sonia Garcia is Senior Director of the Access and Inclusion Program within the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Garcia works to strategically recruit and retain engineering students from historically underrepresented minority groups. Through high school summer camps, undergraduate research opportunities in Mexico, tutoring and peer mentorship, Garcia provides experiential learning experiences for future and current Aggie engineers.
